Provident Welcomes Tom Green to our Board of Directors

Provident is pleased to announce that, as of October 1, 2022,Tom Green graciously agreed to join our Board of Directors.  Mr. Green brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Provident family, after a successful career in public finance as well as state government.  Tom recently retired from Citigroup Global Markets Inc. (“Citi”) as Managing Director and Head of Infrastructure Finance, in Citi’s Public Finance Department, after 22 years with the firm.

During his tenure at Citi, Mr. Green served as lead banker on many high profile transactions, including numerous financing and advisory engagements for colleges, universities and health systems; over $15 Billion of tobacco Master Settlement Agreement securitizations; financing of the City of Detroit’s new 65,000 LED street lighting system during its Chapter 9 bankruptcy in 2014; the creation of the Great Lakes Water Authority (“GLWA”) as successor obligor on over $5.2 Billion in debt of the former Detroit Water and Sewerage Department and the completion of refinancings for GLWA that saved Eastern Michigan ratepayers over $1 Billion in reduced debt service; the largest parking system securitization ever completed in the Northeast (for the Massachusetts transit system); debt restructurings for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; and over $10 Billion of Unemployment Fund federal loan refinancings to reduce private employer costs during the Great Recession, to name only a few.

Prior to joining Citi, Tom was the First Assistant Attorney General of Massachusetts for six years, reporting directly to the Attorney General.  In that role, Tom oversaw the work of the Commonwealth’s more than 200 Assistant Attorneys General in a wide variety of legal areas, including affirmative and defensive civil litigation, criminal investigations, and prosecutions. He also personally directed the State’s successful case against, and settlement with, the tobacco industry, work for which Tom received the National Association of Attorneys General’s President’s Distinguished Service Award.  

Tom received his B.A., magna cum laude, M.B.A., and J.D., cum laude, from Harvard College, Harvard Business School, and Harvard Law School, respectively.
