Vicki Romero briggs

Birmingham, Alabama

Having received her B.S. in Accounting from Nicholls State University, Vicki has the honor of being named one of the top 50 graduates in the history of the university. She is also the distinguished recipient of the James Lynn Powell Award, which is the Alumni Federations most prestigious award. Vicki is currently enrolled in the Brock School of Business at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, pursing her MBA with an anticipated graduation in August 2009.

Ms. Briggs has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry including CEO and CFO of Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, President of the Baton Rouge Market for HCA and CEO of hospitals in Texas and Alabama with Triad Hospitals. She has held leadership positions in numerous organizations including the Federation of American Hospitals, American Hospital Association, Texas Hospital Association, Louisianan Hospital Association, Alabama Hospital Association, Healthcare Financial Management Association, Alabama Chapter of the March of Dimes, United Way in Louisiana, Texas and Alabama, and the National Perinatal Information Center.

Ms. Briggs is the recipient of a number of awards including Modern Healthcare’s Up and Comer in 1991 and 1991 Notable in the 2007 Modern Healthcare Yearbook of Up and Comers, 2007 Birmingham Top 100 in Healthcare, and a 1994 Emerging Leader by The Healthcare Forum.

Currently, Ms. Briggs is the Chief Executive Officer of The Regional Health System of Acadiana, which includes Lafayette-based Women's and Children's Hospital, Southwest Medical Center and Dauterive Medical Center in New Iberia. Formerly, Ms. Briggs was the Vice President of Operations for Healthcare Management Associates (“HMA”) based in Naples, Florida with responsibility for strategy and operations for 12 hospitals in North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Pennsylvania.
