Tom E. Greene III received his Bachelor of Arts in 1969 from University of Georgia and his Juris Doctorate in 1972 from Emory University Law School. Mr. Greene also attended New York University Graduate School of Business from 1972 - 1974.
Mr. Greene began his professional career at Paine Webber in New York, New York where he was an officer from 1972 - 1977. In 1977 he became a Senior Vice President with Lehman Brothers where he was an investment banker until 1980. Mr. Greene founded Liberty Street Capital Corporation in 1980 and from then until 1992 he developed Liberty Street as a private investment banking firm that completed over 100+ financial transactions totaling over $2 billion in market value. For approximately four years, 1992 - 1995, Mr. Greene was a senior investment banker with Goldman, Sachs & Co. for the southeast United States. In 1996 he returned to Liberty Street Capital Corporation where he served as the Managing Director and also the Managing Director of Liberty Street Asset Management, a portfolio management fund based in Athens, Georgia. In January 2010, Liberty Street Capital Corporation was acquired by Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and currently operates as The Greene Group within Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
Tom Greene has extensive experience in investment banking, asset management, government financing, corporate acquisitions and corporate management over the past four decades. In addition, since 1990, Mr. Greene (i) has been a distinguished practitioner and lecturer at the University of Georgia College of Business Administration, (ii) serves on the Advisory Board of the Athens Banner Herald, (iii) serves as a Trustee of the Georgia Student Educational Fund, and (iv) serves as a Trustee of the Dooley Library Endowment Fund. Mr. Greene is a member of the Washington D. C. and Georgia Bar Associations and is a Registered Investment Advisor with the State of Georgia.
