Mr. Brown received his Bachelor of Arts in 1969 from Lenior-Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina after attending Duke University. In 1980 Brown received his Masters Degree in Health Administration from the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Following graduation in 1969, Mr. Brown became the Administrator of Chatham Hospital in Siler City, North Carolina where he served from 1973 until 1980. After completion of his Masters Degree in Health Administration in 1980, he served as Administrator of Davis Hospital, Statesville, North Carolina and Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital before becoming Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, North Carolina where he served until 1986. For more than ten (10) years, from 1986 through 1997, Mr. Brown served as President and Chief Executive Officer of VHA Inc./Carolinas-Tennessee Regional Healthcare System in Charlotte, NC where he served as a prominent member of the senior management team of VHA while serving as a strong voice and advocate for community-owned and governed health care organizations.
In 1997 Mr. Brown became Executive Vice President of Norvant Health in Charlotte, NC where he served until 2002. Today, he remains active as a healthcare consultant throughout the Carolinas and serves as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Public Health, University of North Carolina. In addition to his outstanding professional experience in healthcare, he has served the United States since 1969 having retired recently as a decorated Colonel, Medical Service Corps and Commander of Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron located in Charlotte, NC. Currently, Mr. Brown is a Sr. Vice President with Carolinas HealthCare System in Charlotte, NC.
